I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I will be raising money for the National Animal Welfare Trust, and anyone who buys any of my products will be helping!

A few weeks ago I was emailed by someone called Molly, who asked whether I would be interested in donating any items for a charity auction. Molly Hall, it turns out, is the fundraising officer for the National Animal Welfare Trust, and a colleague had suggested that I might be a good person to contact for donations to a charity auction being launched on 26th August.

As it happened, this couldn’t have come along at a better time. I was looking for a charity to collaborate with, and this one was perfect. The NAWT looks after all sorts of animals, from guinea pigs to alpacas, and is eight miles from my house. Sometimes things just happen for a reason.

After speaking with Molly on the phone, I popped down to Trindledown Farm and dropped off some items for the auction (two cushions, some prints and a pet portrait), and decided that I would support this charity by donating 10% of profits to the NAWT. This applies to sales in my online shop, pet portraits, or in-person sales at art shows or craft fairs.

If you are reading this post, you will undoubtedly be aware that animals are my passion, and are the main focus of my art. Aside from their cute and fluffy attributes, what I adore about animals is their lack of malice, and their pure innocence. They never intend to harm for the sake of it. An aggressive dog is only reacting to its own experiences and trying to protect itself. When animals are injured, whether on purpose or not, they cannot speak up for themselves and it is our responsibility to do what we can for them. Using them as my artistic subject matter without giving something back seems just plain wrong to me. By supporting this charity, I can ensure that my art can help animals. In Molly’s own words:

Any money donated makes a difference for our animals. Even just £5 can help feed one animal for a whole week!
